‘An Act for regulating the Alienation of Crown Lands’, 1861
The Crown Lands Alienation Act 1861 allowed for the sale of town and suburban land by public auction in New South Wales. Together with the Crown Lands Occupation Act 1861, it helped to create a code for selling and leasing Crown land. The two Acts became known as the ‘Robertson Land Acts’, after Premier John Robertson who introduced the Acts in the NSW Parliament.
