Cane toad, Springbrook National Park, Queensland
The cane toad is one of Australia’s best-known introduced pests. Released in Queensland in 1935 to help the cane industry deal with insect attacks on sugar cane roots, it has since spread all the way across to northern Western Australia. It has no known predators and has had a serious impact on the ecosystems of northern Australia.
