The Dismissal - 20th Anniversary, by John Shakespeare

A sculpture depicting the dismissal of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam’s Labor government in 1975. Three-dimensional comical figures of Opposition Leader Malcolm Fraser, Governor General Sir John Kerr, and Prime Minister Gough Whitlam are mounted on a piece of black painted board. The figure of Kerr is about to club Whitlam with a bottle of Champagne, while Fraser holds Kerr’s coat tails.
