‘A Family of New South Wales’, based on a sketch by Captain Philip Gidley King, 1793
An engraving depicting an Aboriginal man, woman and two children moving through a landscape. The father figure appears at the front carrying a shield and a spear, the mother is in the background carrying a baby on her shoulders and a fishing line and hooks in her hands, a small child at the rear carries a torch and a number of smaller spears. Beneath the image is the title, ‘A FAMILY OF NEW SOUTH WALES’. Based on a sketch by Captain Philip Gidley King, the third governor of New South Wales.
