Lochaber No More, by John Watson Nicol, 1883
Lochaber No More shows Scottish emigrants leaving their homeland during the ‘Highland Clearances’. The Highland Clearances happened between the 1770s and 1850s. 200,000 Scottish people were forced to leave their land to make way for pastoralism. Some made new homes in Australia.
