Lake Mungo
Mungo National Park is located in far western New South Wales and is unlike any other region of Australia. The ancient and waterless Mungo Lake that lays within the national park is part of the greater Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area. This land is home to three First Nations traditional owner groups, the Paakantji, Ngiyampaa and Mutthi Mutthi people.
Although the Mungo National Park is known for its unforgiving mars like landforms, this country holds a special story. It is delicate and culturally significant to the First Nations people and is home to resilient wildlife such as the Emu and Goanna.
Enjoy discovering more about Lake Mungo and the many stories it tells.
