Cyclone Tracy devastates Darwin

Extract from Darwin — The Aussie Slice of Utopia (1975)

Residents of Darwin begin fundraising operations to rebuild their city following the devastation wrought by Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day, 1974. This was the second time in less than 50 years that Darwin had been reduced to ruins. Japanese bombing raids on the city in 1942 during the Second World War left buildings and homes destroyed and many lives lost.
