Dress worn by Dame Enid Lyons

A black long-sleeved dress. The dress features a scoop neck and three white panels extending from the waistline with black lace overlay. This dress belonged to Dame Enid Lyons, who became the first woman elected to the Australian House of Representatives when she won the Tasmanian seat of Darwin in 1943. In 1949 she became the first woman to serve in the federal Cabinet.
