This front page of the Koori Mail reports on the 2005 abolition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC). ATSIC, established in 1990, had provided an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice to the Australian Government. But by the early 2000s it had become a flawed advisory body, subject to financial corruption. It was abolished by the Howard government.
