John Kerr, 1965
John Kerr was Governor-General of Australia between 1974 and 1977. On 11 November 1975, after a series of dramatic events including a 1974 double dissolution and a budgetary supply crisis, Kerr dismissed the Gough Whitlam-led federal Labor government. This is still the only time that an Australian Government has been dismissed by a Governor-General.
