Peter Lalor, by Ludwig Becker, 1856
Irishman Peter Lalor emerged as the leader of the Eureka rebellion at the Eureka diggings in 1854. He lost an arm after being wounded in the battle. After Eureka, he entered parliament and became a fairly conservative politician.
