Police break up a blockade during the Noonkanbah dispute, 1980

During the 1980 Noonkanbah dispute, Yungngora people blocked access to the Aboriginal-owned Noonkanbah pastoral station (Western Australia) in an attempt to protect sacred sites from mining company Amax. Police cleared the blockade, arresting 22 people. Drilling went ahead, but no oil was found.
