On the Thailand Railway, Harold Abbott, 1946

The Burma-Thailand railway was constructed by the Japanese using prisoner of war labour (including Australians) between September 1942 to October 1943.

This work depicts three emaciated, naked prisoners of war working on the Burma-Thailand railway. The men are shown carrying a large, heavy log across a timber bridge platform over the river.
