Investigation 5: Significant people
5.1 Introduction
Who were some significant people in twentieth century Australian history? Why do we remember them?
There have probably been hundreds of millions of people who have lived in Australia over its 65,000 year human history, but we only commemorate a few.
These are people who have done something very important.
The investigations below explore six significant people. Read the information to work out why they were important and why we remember them. Use this information to complete the Significant people in Australian history questions at the end of each investigation.
You can also use the questions to research and find out about any other significant people that you are interested in.
