Boomerang with carved decorations, attributed to Robert Wandin, Coranderrk, 1890s
A symmetrical, dark coloured timber boomerang, decorated with an incised scallop pattern along the outer edge. This boomerang is one of a collection of 150 objects held by the National Museum of Australia. It shows the agency of Aboriginal people in designing and making ‘tourist’ artefacts and demonstrates their engagement with the non-Indigenous economy.
